Mircea Stoian discovered photography at the age of 11. Two decades later, the young engineer transformed his passion for photography into a "way of life." He has traversed and flown over Dobruja countless times, photographing extensively while pursuing a few main themes: nature, architecture, history, and archaeology. Mircea Stoian considers that the most important elements in the "grammar of photography" are light and the message conveyed to the viewer. For him, the statements of the famous French photographer Felix Nadar (1820–1910) remain relevant: "Photography must quickly rid itself of traitors and travesties and show itself as it ought to be seen, without veils, clear as truth. Photographic theory is learned in an hour; practical notions, in a day... what cannot be learned is the feeling for light, the artistic appreciation of the effects produced by different and combined lighting... it is the quick tact that will put you in communication with the model... it is the psychological aspect of photography, and the word does not seem too ambitious to me."
